Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the difference between a tummy tuck and liposuction?
A tummy tuck is a surgical procedure carried out to remove the excess
wrinkled skin and fatty tissue from the abdomen and to tighten abdominal
muscles. The overall effect is to produce a smoother, flatter tummy.
Liposuction on the other hand, is not restricted to the abdomen, but
can remove stubborn fat deposits from different areas of the bodies
such as thighs, hips, buttocks, knees, ankles, calves, arms, chin,
cheeks, jowls and neck.
Q. Can I have both procedures done?
While it is generally not recommended that both procedures be done
during the same surgery, you may choose to have them done separately.
Q. Am I a good candidate for surgery?
The best candidates for tummy tucks are men or women who are in good
shape, but who are plagued by large fat deposits or loose abdominal
skin. The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple
pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond
the point where they can return to normal.
The best candidates for liposuction are people of average weight
with firm, elastic skin who have pockets of excess fat in certain
areas.
Q. Are there risks involved with any of these procedures?
Every surgery has its share of risks. Potential complications for
tummy tucks include: bleeding, infection and reactions to anesthesia.
Tissue loss along portions of the horizontal incision is a possibility
when the tummy tuck is very extensive.
Risks of liposuction include: bleeding, infection and reactions to
anesthesia. Other complications include the accumulation of blood
under the skin, temporary numbness of the treated area, and discoloration
of the skin.
Q. What results can I expect after surgery?
A tummy tuck will enhance your body contour by making your abdomen
firmer and flatter. The surgery may also make you more confident about
your look.
After liposuction surgery, expect to see a noticeable reduction in
fat in those areas that previously had unflattering bulges. You may
also feel more comfortable in your clothes and less self-consciousness
in your appearance.
Q. Where can I get a liposuction or tummy tuck done?

Q. Can plastic surgery become an addiction?

surgery addicts.
