Lipodissolve Defined
Lipodissolve, a process similar to liposuction, consists of injecting
fat melting substances into the system, more specifically in body
areas where fat deposits are stored. Consequently, excess fat slowly
dissolves over a period of approximately one month. A series of small
injections are administered into areas of localized fat to dissolve
the unwanted cellulite, as well as the wrinkles, over a certain period
of time. Typically, treatment is effected to the same locations on
the body as those chosen for liposuction procedures. Lipodissolve
is also similar to mesotherapy in that injection treatment is used
for both.
Injections
Injection solutions typically consist of substances such as alpha
lipid acid, deoxycholate, phosphatidylcholine, multivitamins, and
a variety of plant extracts as well as additional ingredients that
could include small amounts of natural soy bean lecithin and enzymes.
For persistent fat deposits that refuse diet and exercise methods,
these ingredients are highly effective. The substances and treatments
vary depending upon the physician. It should be noted that the injected
solutions are not, as yet, FDA approved. Nevertheless, many people
have embraced Lipodissolve injection treatments with success.
Potential Risks
There are risks involved with respect to Lipodissolve, especially
when a patient has undergone surgery within six weeks prior to the
injections. Nursing mothers should not undergo these treatments. Moreover,
the procedure should be avoided if any of the following medical conditions
apply to you:
- Diabetes
- Pregnancy
- HIV
- Thyroid problems
- Hepatitis C
- Active cancer
- Liver disease (active or end-stage)
- Kidney disease (active or end-stage)
Side Effects
As with any type of medical treatment, side effects are possible.
Those that have been reported are usually minimal and transitory.
It is advisable to consult your physician prior to considering any
type of injection therapy or fat reducing treatment. Here are a few
potential side effects associated with Lipodissolve:
- Bruising and swelling
- Redness and itching
- Pain and localized discomfort
- Dizziness
- Fever and sweating
- Fainting
- Mild diarrhea
There have been infrequent reports of temporary lumps under the
skin after treatment, but once the fat has dissolved, the lumps disappear.
Costs
Though popular, Lipodissolve can be an expensive venture. Depending
on the extent of your treatment program, the procedure typically ranges
anywhere between $4,500 and $10,000. It is not only costly, but also
time-consuming. The recovery period varies in every case, and you
will no doubt be required to take time off work for a period of convalescence.
You should therefore take into consideration a possible loss of salary.
Other expenses such as after-treatment care and additional medication
disbursements are often required. Note that most medical health insurance
plans do not cover expenses associated with cosmetic treatment.
